What factors should I consider when purchasing my dining table? A large, elaborate table may be desired, yet a consumer must think about the space in their dining room. Tables need to be sized so that people can get in and out of chairs, food can be served, and people can walk around comfortably. In addition, think about the number of people who will occupy the dining table. A small family may only need a modest-sized table, yet you will want to make sure there is enough room on the table’s surface for prepared foods. Dining room tables come in a variety of styles and finishes. Many people think of a rectangular shape before purchasing a dining room table, but there are other options available. A circular or oval table will allow for better space efficiency and more intimacy in comparison to long rectangular shapes where it may be hard for those sitting at the ends to converse. Dining sets include the dining table and chairs, but you can also buy them separately. The main point of concern, when purchasing a table and chairs separately, is whether the chairs are high or low enough in relation to the table. Dining Table Buying Tips Consider the finish of your dining table and chairs. Some types of woods are easier to maintain than others. Furthermore, certain woods chip more easily and are more susceptible to smudges. Many consumers like to complement a dining table with a rug. Sam’s Club offers a variety of name-brand rugs for you to choose from. Some dining tables can be elongated via an added portion of the table placed in the center, called a leaf. Though the elongated size may not be typical for the space the room allows, it is a practical option when more diners than usual are expected. Pieces of glass can be added to the top of the table in order to protect the integrity of the underlying wood. The glass is a good option for actual ‘dining’ purposes when the table is otherwise used for purely aesthetic purposes.

Paula Grace Designs, Inc. Seating size for a round table. I usually stick to this calculation to begin looking for round tables. Manufacturers may offer different recommendations, and you might be able to add more seating for a tighter fit. Also keep in mind that using a pedestal base allows more seating because it eliminates the legs that can get in the way of a chair.3’ with a pedestal base seats 44’ with legs seats 45’ with a pedestal base seats 65’ with legs seats 46’ with pedestal base or legs seats 87’ with pedestal base or legs seats 9Note: Large round tables can make it difficult to reach for food. Cravotta Interiors Go square. If your room is square, a square table, like a round one, makes for a more intimate dining experience because everyone is an equal distance apart. Also it will look great mimicking the room shape around it. Like the round table, the bigger a square table is, the harder it will be to reach for food. If you are looking to seat more than eight people comfortably, try out your table in person. Great, great use of the large space. Table seats 10 but because it's round it's cozy and doesn't feel like a banquet hall. Love a fireplace in the dining space. The charcoal grey, white and yellow furnishings give off both a contemporary and vintage fe

Suitable for large dining rooms, this round dining table is able to comfortably accommodate up to 10 guests, and is all made of wood with a distressed finish. The tabletop is well-polished, and is especially eye-catchy with a white tablecloth.

Thank you for reporting this comment. Undo Jill Krol My table is 60″ long (5′) x 42″ (3 1/2′) wide with rounded corners. It very comfortably seats 6 — and all are Captain’s chairs (they have arms). I can add either one leaf or two leaves to seat 2-5 more people. After that, it’s add a folding table! But seriously, the rectangular with round corners and two leaves is an awesome way to go. If you bang into it, you don’t get hurt. It looks great in many shape rooms. Like February 20, 2017 at 12:18AM
